May the road rise up to meet you…

You’ll find us in the picturesque heritage town of Ballyvaughan in county Clare, on the West coast of Ireland and overlooking Galway Bay.

Ballyvaughan was established as a small fishing community from the early 19th century – although medieval castle ruins and a Celtic ring fort are clues that people lived here long before then.

Thanks to its excellent location, Ballyvaughan is the ideal base from which to explore the iconic Burren – a vast rugged Karst landscape dating back millions of years and shaped by ice and the wild Atlantic weather. Walk, cycle, drive and explore all that the Burren has to offer – from fabulous food trails to some truly wonderful hikes. Many walks are led by a knowledgeable local guide who will teach you about the history and ancient farming culture of this special place, while there are also several challenging self-guided walks in the area – including the Ballyvaughan Wood Loop, the Black Head Loop, the Carron Loop, and the Burren Way.
You’re very close to the home of traditional Irish music – Doolin, the beauty of Fanore beach and of course the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher that rise to 702 feet above the wild Atlantic. You’re also just a drive away from the buzzing city of Galway, offering excellent shopping, rich culture, great music and the best beaches.
